2013 – What’s your Word of the Year?
Posted by Franziska on Jan 2, 2013 in Blog | 4 commentsIt’s funny, yesterday I was thinking what the new year would bring and what my expectations and plans were. As I was daydreaming about 2013 (I don’t like new year’s resolutions, btw), I decided, the new year should have at least a motto or I should give it a theme. Shortly after, I came across Layla’s blog The Lettered Cottage with “Word of the Year – 2013″.
After I chose my word of the year, I read Gail’s blog My {re}purposed life about the word 2013…
Here’s my word of 2013:
Move stands for so many things in my life and it’s a great word in English (because it has several meanings) whereas in German (my native language) we’d have different words for each meaning.
1) First came to mind that we’ll be moving from Dallas to Portland (Oregon) in October and this year will be dedicated in getting rid of stuff, cleaning up and getting prepared. A new life is waiting for us at the West Coast and will bring a lot of change! Couldn’t be more excited, finally after 5 years, we are leaving Texas, woohooo!!
~
2) Second, move also means, I want to move more! I want to exercise. I don’t need to (well uhem, yes I actually do) but I really WANT to exercise and get moving! So far, I have been focusing a bit too much on eating right, my weight problems and my shape but I am tired of that and I really just want to be fit and enjoy exercising again not as a task but as part of my life! Who knows maybe I’ll finally be able to run a half marathon at the end of the year? Or play squash?
~
3) And move also means to move forward in my life. I have so many plans and ideas and I want them all to become reality. I couldn’t do many of those plans here in Texas but that will happen in Portland. My own store and studio. Right now, I am traveling from antique & craft show to art market & galleries, setting up, breaking down, driving back and forth… So I can’t wait to bring my business to a new level and move forward with it!
So this year will be a year of moving things and myself! I am excited (and my muscles are already sore from weight lifting, hahaha!!).
Have you picked a word of the year?

woohooo! It’s a great word, for a successful year! Wishing you all the best with purging for the move!
