We Don’t Need Earth Day
Posted by Franziska on Apr 18, 2012 in Blog, Green Stuff | 1 commentEarth day is coming up this weekend and I actually couldn’t care less about it. Do we really need a theme or a specific day to celebrate earth? Common sense please! While on the one hand, it’s nice to raise some awareness to stop malicious destruction of our planet. Because it seems like the majority hasn’t heard how we (the ones on top of the food chain) kill our own and only livable space. I mean when I go to the grocery store and I am the only one who brings her own bags, I am really wondering what the #@&%@9!%? is going on. Then there’s only a handful of people I know who compost. Oh and the list goes on..
As said, this is the only earth we have. Unless someone found another planet with air and water just a minute ago. On the other hand, didn’t I just say that we are on top of the food chain and have brains to connect these dots? Don’t need a college degree to figure that one out. And we have only one day of awareness?
Shouldn’t responsibility and care be interwoven in our lifestyles? I am not pointing fingers here, I am just saying. I never get tired of finding new ways to be more efficient and repurpose stuff. And I am for sure not a master. Yet.
Maybe we do need Earth Day to educate those (the majority) who have absolutely no brain left and get their happiness by antidepressants and consumerism. And while I am sure there’s a lot of cool stuff you can learn at all these places who initiate an earth day, don’t forget that the mighty industry came up with some genius (and expensive) ways to trigger your guilt. Thanks industry for adding another trendy and expensive branch for us shoppers.
Here’s a tip worth thousands: being resourceful is much cheaper and it keeps you busy thinking of new ways to improve all the time which then keeps you away from antidepressants and other methods to fill a meaningless life.
Happy Earth Day!

Happy earth Day everyone! I hope we all enjoy it and cooperate with people around the world.. Thanks for the shared thoughts..
